Sixburgh!!

Wow, the Steelers won another Super Bowl! It was a fun time again just like it was a few years ago. I could not break tradition and had to continue watching the last few games at Megan and Justin's house. This time there was a lot of good food, mmmm. After the win, Alison, Eric. and I decided to go to the Southside for a little bit of fun. Alison had the great idea of Going down Greenfield Avenue to get to the Hot Metal Bridge the back way and we were able to get to the Southside with no problem. When we got there, there were a lot of people just as we expected but it was very very tame compared to how Oakland was last time...a little disapointing. Here is a picture of East Carson Street:

And here is a picture of me stading in front of a crowd singing random victory songs coming from a the stereo of bunch of people in a second floor apartment:

Another disapointing thing was that all of the bars were either closed or closing! WTF? Last time in Oakland we stayed in Boomerangs for a long time after the game. O well, it was still fun to get to be a part of it, next time though I for sure am going back to Oakland. No one knows how to party like good old Pitt!

One other funny note was this article from the Post Gazette this morning:
Council changes city's name to Sixburgh
Tuesday, February 03, 2009

Mayor Luke Ravenstahl may have changed his name, but Pittsburgh City Council one-upped him today by ceremonially renaming the entire city.

In a proclamation crafted by Councilman Bruce Kraus, the city's lawmakers commended the "open, practical and efficient management" of the Super Bowl-winning Steelers.

"The council of the City of Pittsburgh does hearby commend the Rooney family for bringing notoriety to the City of Pittsburgh," Mr. Kraus read, with the other members of council arrayed about him, before "officially designating the City of Pittsburgh in 2009 as the City of Sixburgh."

Mr. Ravenstahl ceremonially renamed himself Steelerstahl prior to the AFC Championship game against the Baltimore Ravens.
